Thanks but no thanks

What one AA group did the day a kind priest offered them money

It was nearing Christmas. One of the letters awaiting me bore the return address of the local parish priest. It was widely known in our little community that Alcoholics Anonymous had helped me turn my life from that of the town drunk to a person anxious to help others. Although I was not a member of his faith, the priest had called me a few times seeking help for members of his parish who had no success taking the pledge.
