What's On Your Mind? : Court Cards

A woman who first came into AA carrying a court card in her pocket finds that tolerance towards signing those cards is waning—and warns that it is not a good idea.

Recently, I was at the first session of a new meeting. The person who started the meeting announced that if a court carder came in he would not sign unless they put a dollar in the basket. He wasn’t about to pay rent for those….and here he used a word that made my dander go up! Where was the spirit of openness and giving that is AA? There was no reasoning with him. What could I do that would help this situation? I went home praying for an answer.
