Around Christmas 2001 I was 25 years sober, but inside I felt dry as a robot. I was sponsoring and being sponsored, working the Steps on a daily basis, going to many meetings, and was even an invited speaker at conferences and meetings. Still, the refrain of that old song played softly in my heart: “Is that all there is?”
