It didn’t matter how young or rebellious he was, the old-timers took him in and showed him love

I was first sent to AA in 1975 when a juvenile court judge stipulated that I attend 16 meetings over the eight-week period until I was next scheduled back in court. At the time, I was not at all thrilled with such a severe sentence, but in hindsight I believe he set in motion a chain of events that actually saved my life.
