Getting sober was only half the battle for a tough cat from the streets with gratitude in her heart

I was born into a family of 13 kids. At age five, I had my legs operated on because they bent the wrong way at the knees. I also had my eyes operated on, as they were off on the sides of my head. When I was 13 and still wearing leg braces, my alcoholic mother kicked me out of the house and I had to try to survive on the streets.
