We do it together

At my home group, we say the Serenity Prayer to open our meeting, along with a million other AA groups who do the same. I’ve been sober for a good number of 24s, but a little lightbulb recently appeared over my head. It occurred to me that by saying these words, we’re asking our collective Higher Powers to grant us serenity to do life. We’re not asking for strength, cleverness or analytical prowess, but serenity.
