I don’t remember when it happened, but I went from wanting alcohol to needing it.  I must admit that if it was always bad times in the beginning years, I most likely would have tried to do something about my drinking. But alcohol was my ally. It was there for me in those good times and was always waiting for me in those bad ones. It became something I could depend on. And in those days, it usually never let me down. When friends went their way and I went mine, or people, or family members or friends died and I felt alone, alcohol was there for me.
