Thanks, I See the Light

He’d quit drinking before, without a problem. Why not now?

My name is Brian D. and my sobriety date is March 8, 2001. I drank mostly beer off and on since 11th grade and at the age of 51 years I had something happen that brought my drinking to the forefront. I had just come out of a doctor’s office after hearing my father had nine months to live and I knew it was time to get prepped to take over the reins of the family. Many years previously, my parents had asked me if I would take care of my severely handicapped younger brother when they passed and I knew the time was now coming soon. I had quit drinking the summer before to see how good I could get at golf so I knew that wouldn’t be a problem.
