Laughter is Recovery

The comforting sound of laughter echoing down a hallway meant that the AA room she was about to enter for the first time was a safe place

I think laughter is one of the key things that keeps us coming back long enough to recover and claim the life God intended for us. It's my very first memory of recovery: walking down a well-lit hallway in either Sparks or Reno, in June of 1973. Before I even saw the room or the faces of the people, I heard the distinct sound of belly laughs. It felt safe—all the way down that hall, God was in that room and I knew it.
