Don’t Dwell On The Past

He was drinking at one of the proudest moments of his and his son’s lives, but decades of sobriety have brought him rewards beyond his wildest dreams

It was more than 30 years ago, when I fulfilled every Jewish father's dream. I had my son's Bar Mitzvah at our religion's most holy site, the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Standing next to my 13-year-old son, so proud of him as he read from the Torah, instead of relishing the moment, all I could think of was getting back to the King David Hotel to celebrate the joyous occasion with "a few drinks."
