Deaths from alcohol, drugs and suicide on rise in people of color 
New demographic research shows that alcohol, drug and suicide deaths increased at a record pace in 2016, by 11 percent overall, and represent more than 14,000 additional deaths over 2015. There were large increases in drug deaths among minority groups in the U.S., particularly among black Americans, at 39 percent. Latinos saw drug death rates increase 24 percent, while the rate for whites increased 19 percent from 2015 to 2016.
