My Road to Happy Destiny

Passing on the message that service can broaden, enlighten and define your sobriety

My sobriety began with my last incarceration in county jail. I was blessed to have a wonderful man come to my aid in carrying the message of AA and sobriety to me. He became my first sponsor, and a group in my little town, the cornerstone of my recovery. My home group had meetings focused on the Steps and Traditions and was always active in the service structure of AA. At about a year sober, I was brought to District meetings to be quiet and listen, learn and be of company to my sponsor with whom I drove to these meetings. He was the district newsletter editor and gave me a job to print mailing labels, my first service job in recovery. I became a GSR for that group and continued to ride with my sponsor not only to District meetings but the assemblies and conferences our Area has.
