A satisfying life

Everyone else was laughing. I was 24, fresh out of jail, broke, hungover. I was on the methadone maintenance program and my parents were about to kick me out of their house due to my binge drinking. I walked into my first AA meeting in Phoenix that afternoon and there was not one thing funny about my life. How can these people laugh? I wondered.
