The Privilege and Honor of Service
The idea of taking meetings into jail was on my radar, but in the far periphery, something that would cross my ears during announcements at certain meetings. From the very beginning of my sobriety, I learned that service is key to keeping me sober. I had service positions in my home group, then intergroup, and now I’m the Grapevine chair for my district, but taking meetings into jails? Well, I never really considered it because in my mind I’d already disqualified myself from being useful to people incarcerated. After all, I’ve never even been to jail or prison.
