Recovery, Romance, and a Pre-nup!

It turned out the only pre-nup the two of them needed was the principles the program provided

I was in my sixth year of recovery, sponsoring other guys, rarely missed meetings at my home group, worked the Steps with a sponsor, had a service position and viewed myself as a solid, sober, spiritual being.  Unfortunately, the women I dated must have seen something different as I found myself at the end of another failed relationship, deep in self-pity and fear of being alone forever. After previous failed relationships, I recall people suggesting that I might benefit from emotional sobriety workshops and revisiting Steps Six and Seven.  I had said thanks for the suggestions but, in my mind, those were for people who couldn’t find relationships or fought all the time, not someone like me who was not a fighter and was usually in a good relationship. I just hadn’t found the “right one” yet.
