The writer of “Card-Carrying Thumper”  tells how he could not stop drinking no matter how much he tried to control it. But when he finally got to AA he started going to a Big Book meeting  and found out just why he couldn’t stop. “The terms ‘phenomenon of craving’ and ‘obsession of the mind’ explained everything,” he writes. “That’s where my love affair with the Big Book began.”
