A member shares his experience with the concept of autonomy

When I was drinking, I had this idea that the word “autonomous” meant something like proud, isolated and alone. I considered myself autonomous and I had this picture of myself as being a person outside the crowd, someone who everyone was maybe frightened of but definitely impressed by.
