Feeling Safe to Share

Doing the Steps, learning to set boundaries and working with others helped her connect with life again

I’ve always considered myself to be a bit jumpy and sensitive. A history of physical and sexual abuse, followed by years of drinking to ease the trauma, set me up to be a reactor. I remember sitting in AA meetings and crying over who-knows-what. Anyone reaching out to console me would put me into flight. I ran away crying from so many meetings. I didn’t know how to be consoled.
