Two Years of Sobriety

Checking in at two years sober… and counting

It has now been two years of sobriety and it’s been an amazing journey. This last year has been so much different than the first year. In the first year all I was trying to do was stop drinking, stop thinking about drinking, stop thinking about thinking about stopping drinking. That first year was all about finding a sponsor, that person for whom I am forever grateful, to help guide me through the Steps. Then, get through all Twelve Steps, to the best of my ability, so that I could arrive at that spiritual awakening and promises that we always talk about. Everybody drinks for a reason and the people who drink the most, like me, have the most reasons. The process of this program and developing a real relationship with God helped me understand the “Why” so I don’t have to repeat the pattern.
