The Difference Between Drunk and Sober

In my first 35 years of living no one ever handed me a drink or a drug and said, "Here, eventually this is going to ruin everything for you and you will do things while under its influence that you would never do without it." Each person said something on the order of, "Here, try this, it’s so fun." And each thing was until it wasn't. When my dad gave me that first sip of beer, he left out the part about all four of his siblings being alcoholics.
