I took my first drink at the age of 15. I never imagined it would start a journey that would end in alcoholism. It was just that I never felt like I was a “part of” or “related to” the world around me, even as a kid. I wasn’t abused as a child, had every monetary opportunity available, yet somehow never felt comfortable in my own skin. Alcohol gave me the feeling that I could do or be whatever I chose.
