Many ways to do AA service

The writer of “Jumpstart” tells how his life in sobriety hit a slump at 17 years and how general service recharged his recovery and got him more involved.

One day, he went to a meeting and said yes to taking  a service position outside the group. This began a journey that led to a whole new world for him. “This was the change... I had been craving all along,” he writes.

Have you ever been a GSR? A DCM? A delegate? Have you ever served at the district or area level? How about Intergroup? What were these experiences like? What did you learn?

Have you done service at your home group? Have you chaired meetings, made coffee or served as a Grapevine rep? How did that help your sobriety?

You may use this topic in a discussion meeting, or send us a story of your own journey with AA service at www.aagrapevine.org/share
