Bridging the Gap

Growing up, my father would repeatedly ask me endearing questions in regard to some of the “misjudgments” I was known to make. He would lovingly ask me: “Ron, why do you always have to learn everything the hard way?” (Actually for publication purposes I’ve taken the creative license to clean that up a bit, as his real words were a bit more potent and, yes, vulgar.) My sponsor tends to ask me the very same question. And the judge asked me that a few times too.
