When duty calls

I pulled over and ran to where he was. Multiple people had their cell phones out. At that moment the “injured” man sat straight up. Thank God, I thought, he’s alive.

My wife, our two kids, our nephew and the family dog had just left Portland, Oregon on a family vacation to Disneyland in the summer of 2003. We had been traveling for about eight hours heading south down Interstate 5, towing our 30-foot-long travel trailer.
