At our regular Big Book study meeting one Wednesday, our discussion digressed into an argument about the dated language preserved in Alcoholics Anonymous. There were the usual complaints: “To Wives” is sexist and no one today knows what is meant by “teetotaler” or “in his cups” and so on.
