Grandpa’s Promise
The journey to have his shortcomings removed turned out to be a gift from the one he loved most
Grandpa was the only person in the world I didn’t hate. The only thing I liked was sitting on his knee and hanging out with him. I had a tough childhood. Mom and Dad were mean. They didn’t let me do anything and punished me for the smallest reasons. Or else they just ignored me, forgetting I even existed. One day when I was feeling really sad and nothing was going right, Grandpa cheered up my day with a promise. “Someday I’ll get you a white horse,” he said.
