To Speak or Not to Speak

Reluctant to share at meetings, a teacher says she’s grateful for Tradition Three.
It gave her room to grow until service helped give her a voice

When I first got sober, people in meetings urged me to speak. But I didn’t want to. I felt like I needed a T-shirt with the Third Tradition printed on it: The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking. I wanted people to stop pressuring me to share in meetings.
