Over 35 years later, he has a beginner’s love of the program—and an old-timer’s wisdom

Recently, I read in Dr. Bob and the Good Oldtimers that Dr. Bob started doing Twelfth Step work in July of 1935, when he had only been sober about two or three weeks. Nevertheless, in the eyes of the alcoholics he was trying to help, Dr. Bob was definitely an “old-timer.” This story reminds me of just how relative of a notion the “old” of an “old-timer” can be.
