Being here

Gazing high above in the Wyoming sky, a member makes a connection he won’t soon forget

I believe that I am a spiritual being, that I am part of a bigger picture. As an AA member, I have often struggled with what I see as religions’ definitions of spirituality. I will in all probability never answer an altar call. You will never see me sitting at the front of a church congregation, waving my arms back and forth. That’s not me. One of my favorite quotes is from Arnold Toynbee, a philosopher of history, who said, “Religion is man’s inability to cope with the immensity of God.”
