Getting back out

After two years of COVID, a member wonders what the new normal will look like and what challenges lie ahead

I’ll be blunt. The “reopening” of the world does not excite me, and I’m not alone in my opinion. I am joined in this sentiment by hordes of like-minded introverts, those who got comfortable working from home, as well as many of us recovering alcoholics. I don’t speak for all of us, as many are perfectly comfortable at parties and gatherings. Over time in recovery these are social settings we must learn to cope with and attend with grace. After all, they do say the opposite of addiction is connection, but with whom we connect and where we connect gets tricky.
