The first meeting I ever walked into was New Beginnings, in Macomb, Michigan. I have no idea who talked at the women’s table I sat at that evening at 7:30 PM. The only person I remember is a woman who extended her hand to me. Apparently, I had a sponsor. I’m still not sure what she saw in me to offer help, just like that.
