Time’s up

Should we limit the length of shares at our meetings?
A longtimer has some thoughts

Some years ago an older man with many years of recovery approached me after a meeting at which I had shared. “David,” he said, “you make good points when you raise your hand, and I hope you will continue. But here’s the thing—maybe you could focus on making only one point, not three or four.” How well I have applied his sage and gentle counsel in the years since I cannot say, but his suggestion offers one solution to curbing those, like myself, with a tendency to go on at excessive length at AA meetings.
