As the old-timers used to say, AA is a way of life that works in rough going

When I was 20 years sober, my house burned down in California wildfires. It was one in the morning on October 9th, 2017, and a bullhorn was blaring outside our door. We had five minutes to get out. As we fled from the scene and saw the Armageddon-type fires on the ridge of Napa Valley, I was thrown into a deep crisis of faith.
