Let’s Go

I was one week shy of 11 months sober when I took my first business trip as a sober woman. The significance of this trip was huge. In active alcoholism, my business trips provided me the privacy to drink the way I wanted to drink. Without the responsibility of being a wife and mother, I could drink without fear of any consequences except a headache in the next day’s business meetings. A headache during a sales call was normal for me. I would rationalize that a hangover made me focus harder and caused me to be more productive.
