Service at sea

A member on a cruise is reminded that we don’t know how much we’re needed until we actually show up

I was relaxed and happy. I was on a cruise with my husband and our two children. It was a welcome weeklong respite from the usual chores and responsibilities of life. I love cruising. Unpack once, sleep in the same bed for a week and yet travel to multiple Baltic states, the countries of the United Kingdom or a string of Caribbean islands. We eat well and often, enjoy kitschy evening performances—cruising is fun.
