A Thankful Newcomer

A newcomer’s perilous path becomes the beginning of true gratitude

My day began with my new routine of gratitude and prayer to my Higher Power, God. I am not sure when exactly it happened, but I noticed I no longer felt the need to ask for him to prevent me from drinking, which I used to pretty much chant throughout my earliest days in sobriety. Instead I simply ended my prayer with your will, not mine be done. I got to my bus stop 30 minutes early which was okay with me since I had planned to get to my morning meeting early to enjoy the quiet as I wrote my gratitude list. But I took the wrong bus which left me off four stops too early.
