It took a motorcycle and a chance encounter for this AA to discover the miracle of service

It was early 2004 and even though I had been sober for 23 years, I was still new to regular AA meetings and had little—okay, no—experience of AA service. I knew I couldn’t drink but had been getting by on one or two meetings a year. I figured I didn’t need the Steps, service work or most anything else AA had to offer. Contempt prior to investigation was my motto. I had no idea what a “God shot” was—but then I experienced one.
