She was sober now, so why was life so tough? Where was her amazing meadow full of butterflies?
In my early days in AA, seasoned members painted pictures of a life of hopeful sobriety. It was not at all like the hell I had created for myself in the last days of drinking. Being new, I envisioned myself a sober member of AA skipping merrily through a beautiful green meadow, blithely picking colorful flowers surrounded by bright, flitting butterflies.
