Life Continues To Unfold

“Happy, joyous and free” were the first words I heard when I first walked into AA back on August 4, 1986. Members in AA came up to me saying, ‘Keep Coming Back, Keep it Simple, Easy Does It,” and, most importantly, “One Day at a Time.” Today I am newly diagnosed with a major health issue: Chronic Liver Disease and Chronic Renal disease. I first heard that I had Hepatitis C at 25 years into recovery. Five years later, I was informed that my kidneys were slowly deteriorating. I was quickly referred to a Liver and Kidney specialist. After a year of frequent visits to doctors, labs, x-rays and consultation, I was placed on a Liver and Kidney transplant waiting list.
