The ability to connect with others started by keeping my mouth shut and letting differing opinions and experiences into my consciousness.

While each AA meeting is free to run itself as it wishes, almost all meetings that I’ve attended over decades of sobriety discourage cross-talk. Had this not been the case, I may well have not gotten sober or remained sober.
