No Matter What

Adversity for a trauma-human is like breathing. It’s something that just always seems to be there. The real difference happens when your solution stops working. It was so easy to drown my woes with alcohol and drugs. Stopping didn’t make sense. To live life as a sober transgender woman just never seemed possible to me. I dipped into AA 15 years ago and recovery made sense in theory. It just seemed to be reserved for the cisgender men I saw everywhere in AA.
