Sobriety Is A Choice
Hospital stays can be rough. I visited a sick relative and brought an AA meeting to him. He is sober but has not been well enough to attend a meeting. Being in the hospital reminded me of the time that I suffered a brain hemorrhage and a stroke from alcohol and drugs. My use had escalated, and the doctors weren’t sure if I would live. I was in the hospital for two months, not feeling a part of life. I had visitors, friends and family who came to wish me well, but I was alone in my mind when everyone left.
