A mom, sober since 1972, recalls the fearful secretive years before AA and how much better life is now
When I first called AA for help in January of 1971, I told them my name was Lee. I felt the need to disguise myself; Lee is my middle name. I wasn’t ready to give them my first name. I was so sure they could track me down if they knew my name is Kathy. But I did give them my address.
