I came into AA on the north side of age 50, after decades of drinking and arrogance, denial and service to no one but myself. In my first year in the rooms, the only thing that changed was the cessation of my drinking. You have to do the work to get the spiritual awakening, but I didn’t yet understand that as a dry drunk.
