As I get older in sobriety, my appreciation for the AA program that saved my life only grows. I came into the rooms at age 39. I had nothing, only a few letters that I brought out of jail with me and the clothes on my back. After my forced sobriety of a few months in jail, I found myself right back to drinking, hanging out in bars, getting into uncontrollable messes. How on earth did I get back there so quickly?
