Growing Up in AA

She came to A.A. young, lost and angry, but found her true life and calling

Everyone drank in my house, primarily my Dad, so there was always beer in the fridge. One day at the age of 10, out of curiosity, I stuck my head in the fridge, popped open a beer and drank it. I don’t know if I finished it and I don’t even remember tasting it, but I do know this was not normal. I didn’t become an alcoholic out the gate, so to speak. My family is from Puerto Rico and we got together every Sunday and every Sunday was a party with music, singing, dancing and lots of alcohol. So I would drink leftover drinks at weekly family gatherings when people left them behind.
