When the “voice” tells her she can drink safely, she knows exactly what to do
Closing in on 13 years of sober time I find I must occasionally do battle with the alcoholic voice in my head. Today the thought was, “You’ve been away from it for a long time. Now you can just have a couple drinks and stop.” Then I remember that I tried that more times than I can count and failed. I despair of ever having this voice silenced. But then desperation is a good motivator.
