Glad I Made It

She was going to Al-Anon for everyone else. Now it was time to look at herself

In 1989, I joined Al-Anon in San Mateo, California. I used to think back then, Man, if my boss would get off my back, I could finally have a normal life. You could substitute mother, sister or neighbor for boss and you’d have drawn a portrait of me. If other people around me would just straighten up, everything would be OK. And by a “normal life,” I meant drink normally.
