The writer of “90-Year-Old Newcomer” got to AA when he was 88 after his Al-Anon wife was about to leave him. That got his attention. Turns out he had many signs that his drinking was a problem, but for some reason it took years to see. Today, he’s excited to celebrate two years of sobriety. He especially likes having a sponsor. “I’ve met many amazing men and women I otherwise would never have gotten to know,” he writes.
