Listening to Life

Once lost and now sober, an autistic member finally finds the truth about himself. To him, it’s music

I was born to a mother who had mental illness. I had two older sisters who were also mentally ill. When I was 10, my dad died of a heart attack. He was 46. This left me and my younger brother in a household of violence, psychological disorders, grief and alcohol and drug use. Our family was irretrievably broken. That’s just how things were.
